Gameplay[ edit ] Smite features many different game modes, with the largest being Conquest. All players begin at opposite sides of a map at their team’s ‘fountain’. Before the players enter the map, they are granted an amount of gold usually 1, to buy starting items. These items grant special bonuses or abilities that enhance the player’s god. There are three continuous ‘lanes’ running from one side of the map to the other. Each lane is defended by a ‘Phoenix’ which is accompanied by a pair of extra defensive towers. You should read up on the mechanics of ELO. This happens, and a certain amount of rubber banding is expected. True skill matchmaking is easy enough to do when you are playing a 1v1 game but gets very complicated in team games. Especially a 5v5 MOBA where ELO has to try and consider everything from kills, deaths, GPM, Player damage, minion damage, towers destroyed, gold fury kills , etc, etc Basically if you’re not bad prepare to be put on a team with people who are bad, especially if you’ve won a few games recently.
ELO is supposed to match you with people on similar levels. Regar matchmaking doesn’t use an ELO system to my knowledge, ranked matches do, but casuals don’t.

Because Team B has a slightly lower MMR, if team B pulls off the “upset” they will gain more points, however what is likely to happen is that team B will lose, this being the case team B will lose less MMR because they went into the match at a disadvantage. The problem with this system is that MMR is hidden, and even though you may lose 3 games in a row because of terrible team mates Which i dont agree with, just giving an example , your MMR might have barely changed.
Because your MMR has barely changed, you will be grouped with people around the same skill level as you were before the losses. Is this system fair? Having 3 people to communicate vs a full team of 5 is not fair, however there are compensations, such as attempting to match people in a party vs other people in a party, does that always happen? Sometimes I only have friends on I can play with, rather than not being able to play conquest with them at all because we don’t have a full 5 we play normal conquest.
This sucks when the enemy team does not have grouped people, however I would gladly sacrifice a few imbalanced games here and there for the ability to play conquest with my friends. Why this system is the BEST, but needs a bit of tweaking. If anyone with any authority at HiRez is actually reading my long ass post, I would recomend increasing the time in ranked ques by minutes.

Some are simply too safe, too simplistic and too effective for the tiny amount of effort they take to play. A lack of punishment for bad plays. Mainly due to there rarely being a bad time to use their abilities, so spam is their typical flavour. But some days the servers just decide they hate you.
The whole point of competitive games is to prove your worth as a player. The cooldown appears, you hear the noise, but nothing happens. Again, not all days, but some days it hates you.
