So a small opening in the belly wrap can become a big mess of shredded insulation and torn plastic sheeting strips in the crawl space. Better-constructed homes have a netting stretched across underneath the belly wrap as a reinforcement, which prevents the gradual sagging between fastener rows that can occur over time.
Large bulges in a belly wrap that is otherwise intact can indicate a plumbing leak under the floor. Cutting a pinhole in the bulge tells all. Better quality skylights have a raised curb around the perimeter and are carefully sealed by down-lapping between roof material and caulked. The type shown below always leak after a few years.
A mobile home leaves the factory with an electric distribution panel already installed and wired to HUD-safety standards. We never find anything wrong with the factory-installed panel, unless the homeowner or a handyman has added circuits to it. The main service panel, typically located on a power pole near the home, is another matter.

Last updated on in Camping Tips Sometimes using electricity in your tent is essential, especially if you want to heat your tent in the cooler months. There are also times when a kettle, microwave, lights, and a small fridge may be useful on a long camp, as well as a bottle steriliser for babies. Not to mention a phone charger! What electrical appliances can you use at the campsite?
The majority of campsites in the UK will provide a 3 pin connector rated at 16 Amps, which can provide a V supply, just like at home. The key here is understanding how much you can plug in before the circuit breaker trips. This may be something only the campsite owner can do, which may not be possible between 9 pm and 9 am, or there could even be a charge for resetting the electrics. Working out exactly how much you can plug in and turn on requires an understanding of Ohms law and also taking into account any voltage drop which can cause a current increase with long lengths of cable!
You can use the table below to see how much power you have available depending on the current available at the campsite.

Answered Replacing receptacles and light switches in a mobile home Hello! I am in the process of changing out receptacles and light switches in a mobile home. I want to change them out with regular outlets and switches that have the terminal screws. Here are the questions I currently have. I have 2 grounding wires at each outlet. Will I pig tail these together and then attach to the green screw? That is what I saw on another website and want to make sure it is correct.
Each one of my light switches has 3 sets of wires, 2 coming in the bottom of the box and 1 coming in at the top. The new light switches only have the grounding screw and the 2 screws for the black wires. Wire nut all 3 white wires together and push to the back of the box? Will 2 of the black wires need to be pig tailed and attached to one screw while the 3rd black wire attaches directly to the other screw?
Someone mentioned on another website that in mobile homes the set of wires coming from the top of the box is to the light fixture in the ceiling while the 2 coming in at the bottom are the 1 power source and 2 Runner to an outlet. Does that mean the 2 on the bottom should be pig tailed together?

There may be a special combination of factors that make this system not viable in other areas but I will gladly sing the praises of it. When we bought our house and land the situation was so much what we wanted that even though I was unfamilliar with sewage lagoons that I was willing to deal with it if it should prove problematical. The real problem for any sewage situation around here is that the clay just does not percolate around here. Rules there are more but this is just some I am prepared to address.
It must be at least 50 feet from the dwelling It is only allowed on land holdings of 5 acres or more It must be feet from any land boundary It must be open to the sun It must be open to the wind hence no trees withing 50 feet It must be fenced a potentially stupid requirement and mine is grandfathered In this kind of soil, the open to the wind and sun requirements are mostly about how it gets rid of the water, i. The fence requirement is so that children pets and strying live stock will not wander in and get stuck and stinky or drowned.
The stupidity is evident in that my pond is 5o yards away and it does not need to be fenced, and I have gotten myself stuck in it and had to get help getting out I now know how to do that without help My claim that it is so eco-friendly is based on the reputation of amphibians being extremely subject to environment contamination and the fact that my lagoon has the highest concentration of frogs on our property, Our 1. Of course just as with a septic tank the home owner has to not be ignorant and do something like pouring something harsh and contaminating down any of the drains.

How much does it usually cost to get a new electrical hookup? We will probably be living in a motorhome for a few months this Summer while our new house is being built and I’m trying to figure out how much it will cost to have the power lines run out and a temporary pole put in immediately. I want to pay cash for the land, motorhome and power hook up but there is still a big question mark hanging over the electrical issue.
I’m also hoping to get the septic tank in quickly so that I can hook the RV into that too, but with heavy equipment moving around I might have to wait for the foundation, backfill and grading to be finished first.

Usually all one needs to do to hook up utilities is plug the plug in, turn on the hose and hook up the sewer. I personally would go for that deal if the guy had good references from people he had moved. It’s not hard to do yourself either.
Effective installation and hook-ups are essential for ensuring your mobile home’s plumbing is clean, reliable, and convenient. This requires an understanding of the available sewer system and hook-ups.
This is where the main power comes into the house from the street. It is also the place where breakers need to be reset when they trip and the power goes off. Not sure if this is your problem? See the articles ‘ Basic Residential Wiring ‘ and ‘ Home Electrical Repair ‘ for a listing of all the electrical topics. Purpose of the Main Breaker Panel Sometimes call a ‘load center’ or ‘distribution panel’, this is the nerve center of the homes electrical system.
At the top you will usually find a main breaker. I say breaker, but some houses still have fuse boxes.

Supply pedestals are similar to the hookups at most campsites, typically made with one built-in amp outlet, one amp outlet and one or two amp outlets. Appropriately sized circuit breakers are preinstalled, and some feature a usage meter and a switched light for using the pedestal after dark. They are weatherproof and entirely self-contained, set up so that one amp connection to the pedestal supplies all the outlets with their correct voltages.
Remove the two screws at the bottom of the dead-front panel and lift it away, then test that all power is off using your voltage meter to bridge from the live side to the neutral side. Using Type UF-rated, four-conductor six-gauge wire, connect the two volt hot wires — one black and one red — to the fused screws of the breaker. It does not matter which colored wire is connected to which terminal screw.
Connect the green wire to the ground bar and the white wire to the neutral bus. Typically there will be clearly marked terminals toward the bottom of the pedestal, one each for the black and red hot wires still interchangeable , one for the neutral wire usually white and one for the ground wire typically green. Touching them could be lethal. Items you will need.
